2005 Prince Claus Awards

“Humour and Satire” is the theme in 2005. The Principal Award is going to the cartoonist Zapiro alias Jonathan Shaprio. Ten additional awards are presented.

Zapiro alias Jonathan Shaprio (South Africa)

The Principal Prince Claus laureate for 2005 is Zapiro alias Jonathan Shapiro (b. 1958), one of the best-known cartoonists of South Africa.

With this announcement the Prince Claus Fund announced our friend cartoonist Zapiro as winner of their annual Prince Claus Award. For this award to be given to an editorial cartoonist is a special treat for us all.

CRN sends its congratulations to Zapiro, and Dr. Russell looks forward to meeting with him in Amsterdam, in early December when his award will be presented to him.
